Why Beautycounter is an Important Company

Over the last 4 years I’ve become more and more passionate about health and fitness. I’ve tried to educate myself about healthy foods, the best workouts, shampoo that won’t eventually kill me, etc. I do my best to take care of myself and my family, trying to be a good steward of what God has entrusted to me. While I realize you can’t avoid every harmful thing, when given the option, I would like to choose healthy/safe products that I feel comfortable with. As I was putting on my makeup a few weeks ago, it dawned on me that I had no idea what what actually in my makeup. I flipped over a bottle, then a powder, and quickly realized that all of the things I’ve been avoiding in my soaps and shampoos were in every makeup item I owned!

Did you know that it only takes 26 seconds for the chemicals in your beauty products to enter your bloodstream through your skin? There are compound pharmacists who make medicines into creams so they can be easily absorbed through the skin. I knew this little factoid and it went racing through my mind when I realized I’d been putting toxic gunk on my face for the last 20 years. This had me thinking about where I could find good makeup that was clean and safe. I remembered my friend Leah posting something recently about Beautycounter and how they make safe beauty products. I decided to do a little research, wondering if their stuff actually worked and delivered results or if it was like all the other organic face washes and lotions I’ve used in the past, that smelled good and were safe, but didn’t do anything to actually improve my skin. In that same week, all of the paleo bloggers and authors I follow on social media started raving about Beautycounter. So I decided to contact Leah and ask her for some information. I found out that not only does Beautycounter create safe beauty products, but their products actually deliver high end results! This had me excited! What really sealed it for me, was when I learned that the company is more than just makeup and skin care. They are actually on a mission to change federal laws on how the cosmetics and personal care industry is regulated. Now that’s something I can get behind!

Did you know that the European Union bans almost 1,400 harmful cosmetics ingredients while the US bans 11? That’s not a typo. I didn’t leave off any numbers. The US bans ELEVEN. This is something that needs to change immediately, and I’m excited to be a part of this company that is working tirelessly to see that happen. Beautycounter has a “Never List” of ingredients that you won’t ever find in their products. If you’d like to read about the strict ingredient process at BC, click here!

The last thing I want to mention is how beautifully these products work. It only took about 3 days of using the cleansers and moisturizers to see a difference in the look and feel of my skin! I wholeheartedly believe that in the very near future, I will feel completely comfortable going anywhere with a bare face. And did I mention they have a kids and baby line?! If you’re interested in learning more, or if you’re convinced already, visit Beautycounter and see if it’s right for you.
